This tutorial was written for
Bratty Sweet Pea & PSP2.
Thank you for the motivation!

This tutorial was written in PSP 9 but can easily be done in earlier versions

For this tutorial you will need:
Frames & Headers Font
18k Gold Pattern
3A Frame Motif
3A Damask
HERE

You will also need an image to work with & a gem tube
you can find some gems HERE

Please don't claim my tutorial as your own or script them or sell them. If you'd like to share, please send as a link. Thank you!

Let's get started!

1. Open your image & duplicate so you have two copies.
Minimize one for now.

2. We're making a pattern out of this first copy for the corner fill so
resize it down to around 200 x 200 or so, it doesn't have to be exact.

3. Go to Effects/Reflection Effects/Pattern & use these settings:

or play around with your own to come up with something interesting!
You can minimize this pattern now for use later.

4. Restore your other copy onto your work space and right click on the background in the layer palette and
Promote Background layer if necessary.

5. Using your Selection tool set to Ellipse, pull an oval out large enough
to encompass the subject in your image. Don't worry if it isn't centered
just pull it out to about the right size. You can click on your move tool:

hold it over the ellipse and holding down your right mouse button, drag
the selection to where you need it. Also if you need it larger or smaller,
go to Selections/Modify/Contract or Expand and resize that way.

6. Selection/Invert and hit the delete key. You should now have this:

Select/None

7. Now you will resize your oval if you started with a very large image. Remember to have "resize all layers" unchecked.
You may also need to resize your canvas  so you have plenty of
blank space to create the frame. You can do this from
Image/Canvas size. I've made mine 600 x 600.
You can maintain aspect ratio or not,
as long as you have enough space it isn't important.

Okay now that we've prepared our canvas we can begin the fun stuff!

8. Go to Selections/Select All/Float & then Modify selection, Expand by 2. Right click on your layer and Promote Selection to Layer then
drag it to the bottom and flood fill with the 18k gold pattern.
Leave selected!

9. Go to Modify Selection and Expand by 6. Right click on your layer, Promote Selection to Layer
and drag it to the bottom. Flood fill this with the
Foreground/Background gradient using a lighter and darker color picked out of your image. I used angle 45 and repeat 4 but
use whatever settings look best to you. Leave selected!

10. Repeat step #8. Your image should look like this:

11. Set your Background to any color and open up your Frames & Headers font. Create as Vector, stroke width 0 and set the font size large, about 150. It's still too small but at least you can see it.
Type the letter "e". Now pull on the bounding box from the top and sides
until the inside frame border just barely touches the oval:

12. Right click on your Vector layer and Convert to Raster. Go to Selections/Select All/Float
and fill with the same gold pattern or gradient that you used on the oval. Select none.

13. With your Magic Wand set to "Add" mode, click on the four squares in the corners, set your Foreground to pattern and find the pattern we made previously. Angle 0 Scale 100.
Flood fill the corners:

 Select none.

14. Pick two different colors out of the image and use the same Foreground/Background gradient settings as before.
With your Magic Wand set to "Add" click on the areas around the oval,
right click and Promote Selection to Layer.
Drag this selection underneath your frame layer, Expand selection by 1
and flood fill with your gradient. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply with these settings:

Deselect.

15. Set the "3A-Damask" pattern as your Foreground color
Angle 0 Scale 27. If you use your own pattern fill you may
have to adjust the scale.
Use your Magic Wand to select the rectangle boxes of the
frame and then add a new raster layer. Fill with the pattern.
Apply Inner Bevel with the same settings
as before. Keep selected.

16. Right click on the damask layer and Promote Selection to Layer.
On this new layer add a Cut Out Effect
with these settings:

17. If you want to fill in any other spaces with a color and bevel, do so now.

18. Add a new raster layer and place your gems where the rectangles of the frame meet to form and X.
Add a drop shadow of H 1, V1, Opacity 50, Blur 3.

19. Open your 3A Frame Motif image, copy and paste on a new layer and position at the bottom of the oval.
Right click in the layer palette and Duplicate and then Image/Flip.
Add a drop shadow and Merge All
Layers Visible. Resize to your liking and we're done!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
