October
is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This
cause is particularly close to my heart being a survivor
of breast cancer. I was diagnosed in 2001, finished my
chemo and had 4 surgeries in 2003 and, stupid though it
sounds after all I have been through, I have hair again!
LOL
Unfortunately
for too many wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and
friends, breast cancer has devastated their families by
taking the lives of the women they love. So please, for
your family as well as yourself, have regular breast
exams including mammograms and do self a examination
every month. Because, you can survive breast
cancer.
Click
here everyday to help fund free mammograms for women in
need. It's just a click - doesn't cost you a thing.

Okay
how about a tutorial!

For
this tutorial you will need:
Tronds Filter - HERE
Xenofex 1 - HERE
tube of your choice or mine - HERE
pink ribbon - HERE
This
tutorial was written in PSP 9 but can be done in
earlier versions
Please
do not claim my tutorials as your own. Feel free to link
to them but please no hot-linking and no scripting. Feel
free to send through your group but please send as a
link, do not email my tutorials. Thank You!
1. open a transparent image 400 x 400
2. new raster layer and apply your tube - I resized mine 80%
3. duplicate your tube layer - hide the copy - activate the first tube layer
4. apply Tronds filter Broder 1
5. with your magic wand set at 0 tolerance no feather - click the black area - hit delete key - select none
6. go to effects - distortion effects - wave with these settings:

7. apply Xenofex 1 Origami with these settings:

8. add a drop shadow with these settings:

9. position with your move tool - I moved mine slightly to the left
10. unhide and activate your duplicated layer - add a drop shadow with these settings:

11. open your pink ribbon - copy - paste as a new layer - this ribbon is pretty big so you will need to resize it depending on the image you are using - I also
re-colored mine using the colorize feature under adjust/hue and saturation because I wanted the pink to match my image

12. add a drop shadow with the same settings as before and position it where you think it looks best
this is what I have so far:

13. hide your bottom raster layer which should be blank to use for your background color - activate one of the other layers and merge visible - resize about 85% and center on your canvas
14. select your shapes tool - I chose a square but you can pick a circle or heart etc. - create as vector - background set to null - and draw your shape around your image
15. pick your text tool & font - mine is Monterey BT size 30- create as floating - hold your cursor over the square until you get the A with the curved line and type your text - this part will be trial and error, especially for a square, circles are a little easier - but I kept changing the size of my font and spacing between phrases until I could live with it!
16. while your text is still selected right click on it in the layers palette and Promote Selection to layer - then right click on your vector layer with your shape and delete
My text says Breast Cancer Awareness I'm a Survivor - you can type my sister, wife, mother, friend etc is a survivor or if you've lost someone you love to breast cancer you can type something like "In loving memory of ..."
or you can just go with Breast Cancer Awareness, it's up
to you
17. Since I had some space at the bottom between where my text started and ended I
chose to add a tube of a rose with a drop shadow
18. if you'd like to make a sig tag out of it - activate your text tool and
pick a font you like - create as vector - type your name- angle, resize and position - right click on the layer and convert to raster & apply whatever text effects you like
19. activate your bottom empty layer and flood fill with a background color of your choice - merge all flatten -
I added the light pink border here & you can resize at this point as well - save using GIF Optimizer for a transparent image or JPEG Optimizer if you want your back ground to show.
Use
your new tag in emails all month in support of our
sisters.
Thank
you.
