WARNING! This page is graphically intense.

This tutorial was written in PSP 8.1 but can be adapted for earlier versions

For this tutorial you will need the following:

Paint Shop Pro
Super Blade Pro
Eye Candy 3.1

Supplies I used & included in a zip file for you, or use your own:

2 Blade Pro presets: a gold_filigree and  green_apple
Font: Allegro Swashes
Pattern: Chintz
PSP Selection: Scroll
Tube: Woman

HERE

Unzip the files and put the 3A_gold_filigree.q5q and 3A_green apple.q5q in your Blade Pro Environments and Textures folder. Put the 3A_scroll selection in your PSP Selections folder. You can either install the font to your font folder or just open it and minimize it. (it will show up in your font list) Open the rest of the files in PSP and minimize.

Now lets play!

1. Open a transparent image 400x400

2. Selections>Load/Save Selection>Load Selection from Disk. Find your 3A_scroll selection and click Load.

3. Flood fill scroll selection with white.

4. Apply Blade Pro preset 3A_gold_filigree or any gold. Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen. Selection>None.

5. Create a new Raster layer and load scroll selection again. Selections>Modify>Contract by 5 pixels.

6. Set your background to 3A_chintz4 pattern or pattern of your choice and flood fill. Leave selected!

7. Go to Effects>Plugins>Eye Candy 3.1>Inner Bevel apply with the following settings:

8. Merge>Merge Visible. Selection>None. With your mover tool center the scroll. Your image so far should look like this:

9. Effects>Reflection Effects>Kaleidoscope using these settings:

10. At this point I picked a color from the image, added a new Raster layer, flood filled it with my color and then dragged it to the bottom. This is just my preference, you can do this step later if you wish.

11. Right click on your merged layer and Duplicate. Hide the copied layer by clicking the eye.

12. Activate your first scroll layer and go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I used a Horizontal & Vertical offset of 3 Opacity 80 and Blur 6.

13. On your Layer palette move the Opacity slider to about 50.

14. Activate your copied layer and unhide it. Go to Image>Resize and resize by about 80% Resample using Bicubic and make sure Resize all layers is UNchecked.

15. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow and use the same settings.

16. Make a new Raster layer and Edit>Copy>Paste>Paste as a new layer the tube of the woman or use your own image. You will need to resize the tube I used somewhere between 65- 75%.

17. Add a drop shadow, again using the same settings. Position the tube where you would like it. You can also merge your layers now if you like.

All that's left now is to add your name.

1. Add a new Raster layer and click on your font tool. These are my settings:

I set my background color to white so the preset will show up accurately. If you choose a different font just pick something a little chunky. Type your name.

2. Selections>None and right click and Duplicate your name layer. Hide the copy and activate the first name layer.

3. Selections>Select All>  Selections>Float

4. Effects>Plugins>Flaming Pear>Blade Pro and apply  3A_gold_filigree.

5. Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen.  Selection>None

6. Activate and unhide your copied name layer. Selections>Select All>  Selections>Float then go to Selections>Modify>Contract and contact by 2-3 pixels depending on your font.

7. Effects>Plugins>Blade Pro and apply 3A_green_apple preset. LEAVE selected!

8. Selections>Invert and hit your delete key to get rid of the extra white on the edges. Selections>None

9. Hide your bottom merged layer and making sure one of the two name layers is active, right click and Merge>Merge Visible.

10. Add a drop shadow. I used the same setting again.

11. Unhide your merged layer and merge.

Now it's up to you how to save it. If you didn't add a background layer you can do it now. Remember it has drop shadows so it won't be completely transparent. I saved my as a gif and chose my background color to be transparent.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Thank you.
