Let's get started!

1. open a new transparent canvas 400 x 400

2. active your shapes tool - make your background color white - create as vector -  choose heart shape and draw out a heart - the size of your heart will depend on how many names will be on it

3. grabbing the rotate bar, turn the heart on its side

4. right click on the heart vector layer and covert to raster

5. here is where you will need to know how many gems you will be hanging on your heart - activate your eraser tool - shape round - size 6 -  click the eraser tool once along the bottom edge of your heart for each charm you will hang- evenly spacing the number of holes - I made 4 holes in mine

6.  select all - selection float -  apply the 3Asilver_glow Blade Pro preset - select none

7. new raster layer - choose a font - mine is Array Extended, I wanted something basic - background color black or a dark graphite - size - 16 - this is where I used the vertical text  feature in PSP 9 - to do it in earlier versions this is one way:

my way of doing vertical text is to type one letter - while selected hold your mouse over the letter until it turns into the mover tool - not the cross with the "A" - then it can be moved into position - while still on the same layer move your mouse again until it turns into the text tool and type another letter - this new letter will now be selected and you can position it until you move the mouse again and type the next letter - I do this so the name is on the same layer - once you deselect the last letter you typed, then the name can be moved with your mover tool as a whole and you can float it as a whole for text effects - this is just my preferred way to do it - use whatever way you are comfortable with

8. type the name of your loved one and position it over one of the charm holes - add a drop shadow using white as your shadow color to give an engraved look - here are my settings:

9. continue doing this with each name on a separate layer

10. now you're ready to add your charms! Open your charm and copy - paste as a new layer - do this for each name - I have made extra loops available in case you need to make adjustments or just want your charm to hang lower

11. activate your eraser tool set to a small size - and erase the part of the loop on each charm that would be behind the heart - make sure to activate the right layer for the charm you are working on - you may have to zoom in to do this!

12. finally I chose a script font for my name at the top - I used Andrea Cursive - create as vector so I could angle it and fit it in the space nicely - I used the same graphite color - then right click on that layer, covert to raster and add the white drop shadow

13. merge all layers visible (this is important to keep the background transparent) if you don't care about that then you can merge all layers flatten - save as a transparent GIF and you're finished! I didn't use any drop shadows so this way it will be transparent for any color background

Wasn't that easy? And it's so pretty!
