*Triple Transmission Tag*
This tutorial has been translated into Dutch by Monique:
This tutorial was done with Paint Shop Pro 8.1 but could be done in earlier versions as well. For this tutorial you will need: Paint Shop Pro *trial here* VM Toolbox Filter - Transmission *here* Tube
of your choice or the one I used *here* Font of your choice or the one I used Dream Orphans *here* This tutorial is graphically intense! Okay then, on to the fun! 1. Open a new image 400x400 transparent. 2. Open your tube and copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas then minimize the tube, you will use it later. 3. Right click this layer on the layer palette and duplicate two times for a total of 3 layers of your image and one empty layer at the bottom. 4. Click the eye to hide the first two layers and click on your first image layer to make it active. (the bottom empty layer will become the background later)
5. Go to Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur: apply with a radius of 10. 6. Go to Effects>Plugins>Visual Manipulation>Transmission - apply using these settings: Line Width 14 - Pixel Offset 16 - Line Contrast 42 - depending on your image, you may want to play around with these settings.
7. Hide this layer and unhide the next duplicate layer and click on it to make it active. 8. Apply the transmission filter using the same settings. 9. Go to Image>Resize> 90 Percent making sure resize all layers in UNchecked. 10. Go to
Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow with these settings:
11. Apply the Drop Shadow again this time just changing the Vertical to 2 and the Horizontal to 4 leave the other settings the same. 12. Hide this layer, uncheck and activate your top layer. 13. Resize this layer 85 Percent making sure resize all layers is UNchecked. 14. Apply your Drop Shadow twice using the same settings as step #10 and #11. 15. Arrange your layers in a way that is pleasing to you, keeping in mind where you will position your name - this is how mine looks.
16. Now in order to make the fill for the name you will need your tube again which you minimized earlier. Make a copy by hitting Shift D. This is so you don't change your original. 17. Add a new raster layer to your tube and drag it to the bottom. Flood fill this with black. Merge. 18. Apply the Transmission Filter using the same settings as before.
19. Activate the canvas we have been working on by clicking on it. 20. Now go to your color palette and for the background choose pattern and look for your image that we merged. You should have these settings: Angle 0 Scale 100. Choose black for your foreground . 21. Click on your Text Tool and make sure to Create as Vector - Stroke Width 1 - and Anti-alias is checked. I used Dream Orphans size 72 22. Type your name and apply. Hold mouse over the box until you see the circle arrows and turn until you have the angle and placement you like.
23. In the Layers palette, right click on your Vector layer and choose Convert to Raster 24. Apply a
drop shadow with Vertical 4 Horizontal -3 Opacity 60 and 25. Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen 26. Activate your bottom layer by clicking on it and flood fill with a color of your choice. I used #252323 because I would be using it on this background. **at this point it is really up to you how to save it depending on where you will use it. You can save it as a transparent but it does have drop shadows. If you will use it on white use that as your flood fill** 27. Merge and if you like pick your Selection Tool set to Rectangle. Apply your rectangle closely around your image then go to Image>Crop to Selection
28. I then ran it through GIF Optimizer and chose the background as my color to be transparent.
Well that's it, my first tutorial. I'd love to see your results.
I think Bev's tag turned out so beautiful I had to ask her if I could put it up to show you.
I
just loved the way Corrine's tag came out. Thanks for letting me put it
up here! Here
